In addition, two "national" Web site -- comparable to the USA's  Realtor.com -- compile listings from local property agents and enable you to use sophisticated search engines to sort properties by location, size, price, number of bedrooms, bathrooms, and specific amenities.  Utilizing the comprehensive Web sites of Kyero.com and ThinkSpain.com, you can identify specific properties of interest and, then, request additional information.  The inquiry form you submit on these property search engines is usually sent directly to the local property agents for follow-up.  On the other hand, the Web sites of local property agents typically include lots of important information about the specific geographic region they represent, while their properties for sale are organized by price points.

Ever try buying or selling a "FSBO" (For Sale by Owner) in the USA?  Dealing directly, buyers and sellers can both save some cash.  But as complicated as the paperwork may be States-side, it's even more convoluted and time-consuming when buying a property abroad. In Spain, one needs to apply for an "NIE" (national identity number) before even considering making an offer on a property.  The offer then needs to be negotiated between buyer and seller.  An attorney is needed to properly prepare all the legal paperwork, which is then officially handled by a "Notary" who actually conducts the property settlement or closing.  Taxes have to be paid (7% of the sales price) and everything from utilities to trash pick-up and mail needs to, officially, be recorded in your name. And if work or repairs need to be done on your place, you'll need to find qualified and talented professionals you can trust.  Nonetheless, it is definitely do-able ... as many Spanish property buyers have done.  If this is the route you choose to take, we can refer you to qualified professionals who can guide you, step-by-step, through the process ... of course, for a fee! The Spanish people and some international buyers sometimes use "corredores" -- or middlemen -- to help locate properties for sale by owner.
