Slowly we go ... step by step ... as we climb to the top of Olvera towards its cathedral, fort ... and Bar Valentinos! This popular eatery located in the city's oldest section, "La Villa," not only serves breakfast, dinner and tapas -- among the very best in town! -- but the views and vistas from its patio are incomparable!

Taberna Juanito Gomez is one of our favourite places for tapas and drinks.  It's a regular gathering spot for English-speakers worldwide and is known for the quality of its food, friendly service, and down-to-earth prices!

Grocery Shopping?  There are plenty of neighborhood shops -- little "holes in the wall" -- that sell everything from breads and pastries to meat, fruits and potatoes.  But, if you're looking for a supermarket that's got nearly everything at reasonable prices ... a high-tech establishment with shopping carts and scanner, then you want La Mercadona.  Located in  most of the pueblos blancos, La Mercadona is found in the "newer" part of Olvera, near the industrial zone.

CHRISTIAN WORSHIP, ANYONE? Alienated from the Church of English ... bored by the "Book of Common Prayer" ... not really into the Roman Catholic church and its rituals (and, anyway, don't understand enough Spanish to sit through the Mass)?  Theologically progressive pastor (and professor) ordained by the International Council of Community Churches believes that God loves and created us just as we are and focuses on the New Covenant's "good news" of love, compassion, mercy, and social justice.  Willing to try organizing fortnightly or monthly worship services for people spiritually-oriented but turned off to organized "religion."
